This explains who the program is for, how requests are reviewed, what documentation may help, and how assistance is paid. Reviewing it first will help you know what to expect before you apply.
I LOVE YOUR FACE CORP. Individual & Family Assistance Program Guidelines Purpose I Love Your Face Corp. ("ILYF") provides short-term financial assistance to individuals and families experiencing significant and unexpected hardship. Our goal is to help relieve an immediate burden caused by circumstances such as serious illness, injury, death, fire, natural disaster, loss of income due to hardship, or another substantial life-changing event. Assistance is intended to provide temporary relief during difficult circumstances and to help individuals and families regain stability. Role of Assistance ILYF is not intended to replace government benefits, insurance coverage, charitable programs, community assistance services, family support, or personal financial responsibility. Rather, our goal is to fill gaps when other assistance is unavailable, insufficient, delayed, or does not address a specific hardship. In some cases, assistance may serve as a bridge while an individual or family seeks longer-term support through available programs and resources. Because ILYF is a community-supported nonprofit organization with limited resources, we are unable to fund every request or fully meet every need. We strive to use available funds fairly and responsibly to help as many individuals and families as possible. Eligibility & Review Requests will be considered individually based upon: - The nature and severity of the hardship - Demonstrated or documented need - Household circumstances - Available ILYF funds - Consistency with ILYF's charitable mission Applicants are not required to: - Know any member of ILYF - Be affiliated with ILYF - Donate to ILYF - Volunteer with ILYF - Have any previous relationship with ILYF Personal relationships with committee members shall not provide preferential treatment. When appropriate, applicants may be asked to provide documentation, including but not limited to bills or invoices, utility statements, lease agreements, landlord information, medical-related documentation, funeral expenses, repair estimates, or other documentation relevant to the request. ILYF may also provide information regarding other programs and resources that may assist the applicant. Confidentiality & Privacy ILYF respects the dignity and privacy of those requesting assistance. Applications, supporting documentation, committee discussions, and assistance decisions will be treated as confidential to the extent reasonably possible. Information submitted by applicants will only be shared with individuals involved in reviewing, documenting, administering, or paying approved assistance. Committee members, officers, and volunteers shall not disclose applicant information, assistance decisions, or award amounts except as necessary to administer the program or comply with legal obligations. Applicants and recipients are strongly encouraged to respect the privacy of the program and refrain from publicly discussing or comparing assistance decisions or award amounts. Because every hardship situation is unique, assistance amounts may vary significantly from one applicant to another. Differences in award amounts should not be interpreted as favoritism or unequal treatment. How Assistance Is Paid Whenever reasonably possible, ILYF will make payment directly to the organization, business, or individual to whom the expense is owed. Examples include rent paid directly to a landlord, utilities paid directly to the provider, medical expenses paid directly to the provider or pharmacy, funeral expenses paid directly to the funeral home, lodging paid directly to the hotel, or goods purchased directly from a retailer or vendor. Direct payment to an applicant should occur only when payment to a third party is impractical or impossible and must be specifically approved by the committee. This policy applies equally to all applicants. Standard Assistance Amounts For ordinary Individual & Family Assistance requests, the standard maximum award is up to $500 per household during any rolling 12-month period. The amount awarded may be less than $500 and will depend upon verified need, documented expenses, availability of other assistance, severity of hardship, and available ILYF funds. Approval of a request does not automatically result in the maximum award amount. Repeat Requests Assistance is generally limited to one award per household during any rolling twelve-month period. Additional assistance within that period may be considered only for extraordinary circumstances or a substantially different hardship and requires exception approval. Previous assistance does not guarantee future assistance. Special or Extraordinary Assistance The committee may designate certain requests as Special Assistance when circumstances exceed the scope of the standard assistance program. Examples may include catastrophic illness, community tragedies, natural disasters, memorial benefits, extraordinary medical situations, or other circumstances determined by the committee. Special Assistance may exceed standard assistance limits when the committee determines it furthers ILYF's charitable mission. Conflict of Interest Committee members must disclose any significant family, personal, employment, or financial relationship with an applicant. A member with a significant conflict should abstain from voting. Knowing an applicant does not automatically create a conflict of interest. Expedited Review When delay would likely create significant hardship — such as utility disconnection, eviction, emergency lodging need, funeral deadlines, or similar urgent circumstances — the committee may conduct an expedited review. All expedited decisions must be documented and reported to the committee. Applicant Responsibilities By submitting a request, applicants acknowledge that information provided is truthful and complete to the best of their knowledge; submission does not guarantee assistance; assistance decisions are based on need, available resources, and committee review; approved assistance may be paid directly to a third party; assistance amounts may vary from one applicant to another; and ILYF may request supporting documentation when necessary. Requests containing materially false or misleading information may be denied and may disqualify an applicant from future consideration. Approval Requirements Standard requests require a simple majority vote of participating committee members. Exceptions requiring enhanced approval — requests exceeding $500, second assistance requests within 12 months, direct payments to applicants, and exceptions to established guidelines — require a two-thirds vote of participating committee members. All decisions and payments shall be documented. Important Notice Submission of a request does not guarantee assistance. ILYF reserves the right to approve, partially approve, defer, decline, or refer applicants to other resources based upon available funds, documented need, program guidelines, and the organization's charitable mission. All decisions of the committee are final.
